One of the biggest misconceptions about being a professional gambler is that you make money purely from knowing a lot about a sport. In my experience, that's simply not true.
When Porsche built the first 911 back in 1963, it was remarkably light for its time at just over 1,000kg, it took just over 8 seconds to go from 0 to 60, and the engine produced just 130bhp. Back then, the 911 had no power steering, no ABS, no parking sensors, no infotainment system, no air conditioning, the list goes on and on and on.
Fast forward 60 years, and the current 911 GT3 RS weighs in at around 1,450kg - heavier, yes, but still remarkably light given everything Porsche has packed in. It's stuffed full of technology and features the original engineers could only have dreamed about. On top of that, it produces nearly four times the horsepower and will go from 0 to 60 in just 3 seconds.
When Porsche created the 911, they wanted to build the greatest sports car ever made. But the 911 in 1963 wasn't the greatest sports car, and 5 years from now, the GT3 RS you can buy today won't be either. Porsche will keep improving, iterating and learning from its mistakes, and the GT3 RS it builds in 5 years will be better than the one it builds today.
In life, it's hard to get things right straight away. Greatness comes from staying in the trenches and continuing to fight when everyone else wants to quit. Greatness comes from hard work, earning your stripes and going through hell to achieve your goals.
People assume that being a professional gambler is easy. It's not. It's brutally difficult. You have to fight through overwhelming levels of stress, pressure and performance anxiety.
There have been times over the last 5 years when I've been deeply depressed and wanted to quit, but in my heart I knew I was onto something, so I kept fighting.
I kept telling myself that every time we had a dip in our results, we'd learn something that would enable us to improve.
And we did...
There have been many highs and many lows in the Football Betting Group over the last 5 years, but every time we hit a bad period, we learned from it, got better, and slowly the bad periods became less frequent while the winning runs became much bigger than the dips.
After 5 years and thousands of hours of work, I now feel I'm reaching mastery level when it comes to betting on football, and that's reflected in our results in 2026.
June was our 7th consecutive month of profit, and it's now a real possibility that we could go a whole calendar year without a single losing month.
All my life I've craved financial security from betting on sports, but due to aggressive account closures from betting sites when we live bet on the UFC, it's never been possible. I'm always having to fight to obtain new betting accounts.
Now... finally... over 20 years after placing my first bet on sports, I feel I may be getting the security I've so badly wanted for so long.
To produce a profit on a sport as difficult to bet as football for 7 consecutive months, over a sample size of 1,000 bets, is a massive achievement. There probably aren't too many people on earth who've achieved that.
And you know what...
We're still getting better.
I'm confident this is only the beginning.
So I want to personally thank you for supporting me on this journey. Just know that I'll keep working hard, I'll keep learning, and I'll keep tweaking our profitable betting strategies, as well as developing new ones, so we can be safe in the knowledge that we'll keep making money betting on football for decades to come.
I love and appreciate you. Now, let's try and go a whole year without having a losing month!
