The man behind the bets

Fifteen years a professional gambler — every bet on the record

Allsopp has bet on sports profitably for around 20 years and full-time for about 15. Since launching this site — first as MMABettingTips.com, now Diary of a Pro Gambler — he's published every bet in public for over a decade, wins and losses alike.

The story

From MMABettingTips.com to Diary of a Pro Gambler

Around twenty years ago, betting on sports stopped being a hobby for Allsopp and started being profitable. Roughly fifteen years ago it became the day job — he's been a full-time professional gambler ever since. No salary underneath it, no fallback: the betting has had to pay the bills every month since.

The website arrived about thirteen years ago as MMABettingTips.com, built around one idea that was unusual then and is still rare now: publish every bet. Not a highlight reel — every single tip, posted before the event and graded after it, losses sitting next to wins. That habit has now run unbroken for over ten years, which is why this site can call itself a tipster with verified results without asking you to take anything on faith. The full profit-and-loss curve is public on the results page.

The core specialism is UFC betting — specifically UFC live betting: reading fights round by round and hitting prices as they move mid-fight. It's a market most bettors never touch, and one where genuine edges still exist, partly because very few people can price a fight accurately in real time.

Five years ago the operation branched into football. Football betting tips work differently: the bets go through betting exchanges and brokers, where winning accounts don't get restricted and maximum stakes are far larger. That made football the natural second market — the same public-grading discipline, applied to a market deep enough to absorb serious money.

Can you really make money betting on sports? Honestly: most people can't, and the industry is built on that fact. Allsopp's record — historically around 72% of months profitable on UFC and around 66% on football — is the argument that a disciplined few can. But it's an argument you should verify, not believe: every claim on this page is checkable against the graded record, and members tend to stay for years because the record keeps holding up.

Alongside the paid tips, Allsopp publishes one to two hours of free, in-depth UFC analysis on YouTube every week — the same reasoning that drives the bets, given away. If you want to gauge the quality of the thinking before spending a cent, that's the place to start.

The obvious question

If you win, why sell tips?

It's the right question to ask anyone in this business, and for Allsopp the answer is structural. UFC is a low-liquidity betting market: there isn't much money in it, and bookmakers restrict or close the accounts of winning players quickly. Being good at UFC betting puts a hard ceiling on how much you can actually get down — the better the record, the faster the restrictions arrive.

Sharing the bets publicly turned that ceiling into a business. Membership income doesn't depend on how much stake a bookmaker will tolerate, which gives the operation stability that pure betting in a restricted market never could. It's also why UFC Live Betting membership is deliberately capped: too many people hitting the same live price moves it, so the group stays small enough that everyone can get on.

Football is the other half of the answer. Exchanges and brokers don't restrict winners and take far larger maximum bets, so the football side scales in a way UFC structurally can't — that's why it was added five years ago.

The useful side effect: honesty is enforced by structure, not promised. Every bet is published before it settles and graded in public — over ten years of it now. If the record ever went bad, it would be sitting on this site for everyone to see.
